YOGA IN SCHOOLS and the COMMUNITY

The Children’s Garden is happy to be a part of your community or school activities. We bring theme related yoga classes to Sparks, Brownies, Girl Guides, Pathfinders, Beavers and many other organizations on a regular basis.

We are also happy to bring yoga into the classroom either as an in-class field trip or a series of classes for an individual class or the whole school.

Our literacy yoga is fun and engaging while bringing a mind/body connection to reading and storytelling. Children learn poses that appear throughout a story, in rhymes and/or songs helping them retain information with movement, open their imagination to greater possibilities and discover that language is interactive and fun. In fact most subjects can be enhanced with yoga. Learn health facts and anatomy while doing yoga poses; count, add, subtract or do other math equations while making imaginary stew, cake or other delectables; take an imaginary journey to another country. Instill facts through yoga poses while sailing around the world, climbing mountains or walking on the moon.

We feel equally at home in the classroom, gym or the library.

We also offer workshops to teachers who are interested in bringing the benefits of yoga into the classroom. Breathing exercises to calm or energize, poses that can be done at the desk, time-in, techniques to help focus and a host of other valuable approaches for increasing children’s sense of self and well-being can be readily introduced into any classroom.
