YOGA FOR THE SPECIAL CHILD
These private sessions focus on the particular needs of individual children who are typically developing or those having a specific diagnosis (e.g., Down's Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Anxiety Disorder, Attention Deficit Disorder, Autism Spectrum Disorders, etc.). Yoga has been practised by children and adults of all ages and abilities with benefits noted in a number of different areas. Physically, yoga helps to develop balance, strength, flexibility and body awareness. Emotionally, yoga helps to regulate all emotional states, build self-esteem, confidence and a positive outlook on life. Speech and language skills are supported through chanting and breathing exercises. Academically, yoga helps to develop concentration, memory, attention and learning. A typical yoga class involves chanting, breathing exercises, yoga postures (asanas), and each class concludes with relaxation. Reiki is provided as needed throughout the class to enhance the practice. Brain balancing exercises are incorporated throughout the class for additional benefits.
Jennifer also offers Speech and/or Reflexology within the class structure or as stand alone sessions.
