SUMMER 2018
As I watch the snow fall on this March 2018 morning, my mind turns to summer as I know yours has too. I have received many calls regarding Summer Yoga Camp. To clarify, I will be offering yoga in community summer programming where and when I am invited. That will not change.
However, as many of you know I have moved all of my personal group classes, private classes and camps to my home studio. Herein lies the problem. Our street and a few neighbouring streets are scheduled to be under construction from April to September, 2018. I am assured that once underway, there will be no traffic on North Mile Road for the duration of the construction time. It is a major overhaul with our beloved country atmosphere giving way to new water mains and sidewalks and eventually a newly paved road. Until the paving, or at lest until the equipment moves on, there will be holes, dirt surfaces and noise.
As such, yoga camp will be impossible to run at least in the early part of the summer. I am sincerely hoping that August may be more promising. Even if it is only for the last couple weeks. The issue of course, is that most of you need to know now, or soon, if we can offer your child (or children) a spot in the camp. I cannot make promises so must be honest and say that if your family needs a care/camp situation, I cannot in good consciousness offer that. IF, on the other hand, you are looking for some quality time for your child to experience the benefits of yoga, mindfulness and meditation in a homey, natural environment with crafts, activities, games and plenty of fun, it would be good to hear from you.Understanding that circumstances will predict the outcome of a camp situation or not, you are welcome to contact me to put your child's name on a waiting list. Only time will tell if I can provide a smooth, calm, school readiness programme the end of the summer to assist children moving into school, a new grade or back to day care, nursery school or other transition (or perhaps none at all, but still valuable life lessons to be learned). This possibility may also be attractive to teachers who need to return to their classroom to prepare for September. In any case, I cannot commit to anyone now but the possibility is there.
As well, I will return to private sessions as soon as the noise has subsided and it is safe to travel the road.
If there is an urgent situation where a child should be seen sooner, perhaps another location could be considered. Besides the calming and focusing effects of Yoga and Mindfulness, I offer Metamorphosis, Reiki and other energy soothing techniques.
To the many who have come as campers and the many who have come back as camp counselors, I send out a very warm and heartfelt word of thanks. If camp does not materialize this summer, I will miss you more than I can say.
